Palazzo Massimo & End of the Week Fun

Wednesday with my Art History class we went to the Palazzo Massimo, which is the archeological museum. There were some cool statues, and we learned about the different styles of portraits between the Greeeks and Romans .The famous statue of the disc thrower was there.

After class I stopped by the Bascilica Santa Maria delgi Angli dei Martiri. It was built inside the frigidarium (cold bath) of the Baths of Diocletian. For more information: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Santa_Maria_degli_Angeli_e_dei_Martiri

the stained glass dome in the cieling

a weird sculpture of the angel of light, but i really like it

Sorry I don't have more pictures, my camera battery died.

Thursday we went out to Campo di Fiori, the big bar area, with a bunch of people from school. It was fun and we met some interesting people.

Me, Isabel, Ameeta, and Cat with some of the guys from school

Friday the girls took a trip to Ostia, the beach outside of Rome. With a metro pass it is free to go, you just take the trains and a bus to get there. The free beach was called Paradise Beach (not Spiaggia Paradiso). The beach was really pretty and a perfect place to relax and nap after our late night out. The only complaint that I have with the beach was the vendors. Some were like the ones I’m used to were they shout out cold water but others got in your face about stupid ugly jewelry. We saw a lot of men in speedos, some that could pull it off and some that shouldn't have tried. One woman that sat near us felt that the top of her bikini was unnecessary. All in all, it was a good day.
